The story of Cactus Joe’s Blue Diamond Nursery begins with Joe Davidson, a man whose colorful past includes laying railroad tracks, sailing the globe, and experiencing countless adventures before finding his true calling in the desert. In 1989, Cactus Joe discovered a small nursery on Blue Diamond Road and felt an immediate connection to what he describes as "a Blue Diamond vortex" - the peaceful energy of this special location nestled at the base of the Spring Mountains.

For over three decades, Cactus Joe has transformed these seven acres into Nevada's most beloved cactus nursery in Las Vegas, living on the property and personally tending to every plant, trail, and visitor experience. His dedication to authentic desert beauty has made Cactus Joe's a destination that draws customers from across the country, including prestigious events like supplying centerpieces for dinners in Washington, D.C.

"I've been here longer than I've been any place in my life, so this must be it," Cactus Joe reflects. "Everything I ever needed walked through the front door."

In partnership with Desert Love Native Plants, our dedicated non-profit organization, we're pioneering the movement towards drought-tolerant and native plant landscaping while addressing critical water conservation challenges. "We're creating the demand. These are beautiful plants that can be grown with tiny amounts of water," Joe explains, emphasizing our commitment to cultivating native species not yet commercially available.
